Formbot is a Chrome extension that fills the inputs on a web page with test data, one click, so you don't have to hand-type fake values while testing signup and checkout forms. This page explains, in plain language, the only data Formbot collects: anonymous, aggregate usage analytics about how the extension itself is used. It does not cover the separate Google Sign-In flow you use to sign in to Formbot — that sign-in uses Google's own OAuth flow, and Google's privacy policy governs how Google handles your account information there, not this one.
Formbot sends four kinds of usage events. It never collects the values you type into any web page, and it never collects per-input counts — only which built-in fill fields matched and were used. Every event below also carries one piece of non-personal build metadata — whether it came from a development or production build of the extension — used only to keep test traffic out of real usage numbers; it carries no data about you.
fill_triggered) — recorded
each time you click the Formbot icon to fill a page. This event includes only
the hostname and path of the page you filled (for example
example.com/signup) — the query string and any URL fragment
are stripped off before this is captured, so tokens or other sensitive data
that sometimes ride in a URL's query string are never sent.
fill_field_usage) —
recorded alongside a fill, this event includes the same hostname/path plus
which of Formbot's built-in fill fields (for example: username, email, card
number) actually matched an input on the page and were used to fill it. It
never includes the raw values typed or inserted into the page, and never a
per-input count — only which field types were used, deduplicated.
options_page_changed)
— recorded when you edit a fill field's configuration on Formbot's
options page. This event includes which fill field you edited and what kind of
edit it was: a change to that field's keyword list (the words Formbot matches
against a page's inputs), a change to its default value, or toggling its
"generate unique value" setting. It never includes the actual value you
entered — only that an edit of that kind happened.
extension_installed)
— recorded once, the first time Formbot is installed. Beyond the
build-metadata property every event carries (see above), it records nothing
else — no user data of any kind, just the fact that a fresh install
happened.
Each event above is attributed to an identifier so that events from the same installation can be grouped together:
Formbot sends these events to PostHog
(posthog.com),
a product analytics service, hosted in PostHog's EU region
(eu.i.posthog.com, EU Cloud). PostHog is the sole third-party
processor of this data. Formbot does not sell this data, and does not share it
with any other third party.
Formbot does not set a fixed expiry on this data — it's retained under PostHog's standard default retention. If you'd like your data deleted sooner, see "Your choices" below.
To request deletion of your data from PostHog, email the contact address below with the email address associated with your Formbot account (or, if you never signed in, let us know when you used the extension so we can help locate your anonymous record). We'll delete it on request.
This policy may be updated from time to time — for example, if Formbot's analytics change. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the date of the version you're reading.
